Summer 2020 ~ My Second Stitch Fix EVER! Is It Better Than the First?

So, have you tried it yet? Did you decide to get your own Stitch Fix? If so, maybe you can understand my excitement! When that box arrives at my doorstep, there are just so many possibilities inside! It's a wonderful birthday gift, every time it is delivered! (Which, if you didn't hear, is how I got started on Stitch Fix. My AMAZING husband, Andy, gifted it for me for my last birthday...and so I get a fantastic birthday gift every single month, in the form of my Stitch Fix subscription.)

Like my first Fix, this second one was very much anticipated. I kept my same stylist, Lisa, and I couldn't wait to see what she picked out for me this second time around. She is awesome! I had kept all five items she styled me with for my first Fix. You can read all about that here: https://winneramy.wixsite.com/website/post/my-personal-stitch-fix-experience-my-first-fix-~-spring-2020-and-all-the-details-you-need-to-know

I was able to give Lisa some feedback on the items in the first Fix, as well as tell her some of my preferences to help her out. There is a "note to your stylist" feature in the Stitch Fix app, where I mentioned that I love wearing dresses and rompers/jumpsuits alllllll summer (who's with me?!). So I hoped that I would see a few of those items in this next Fix. I also heard that keeping your same stylist usually ends up working to your benefit, because they get to know what you, what you like, and what works well for you. So I definitely wanted to have Lisa continue to style me!

There really was no pressure for me to keep everything, but when the box arrived my family and I were wondering: Could Lisa do another perfect 5, making it a perfect 10 for 10 items total?

My then-six-year-old daughter (who you can also find on YouTube at Aila #AmericanGirl) is my best shopping buddy ever! So I kept her around for her opinion as I unboxed my items. You can find that video here on my Amy & the Things That Make Her Happy YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/5oacHp-V6Io (Let's be honest, though, six-year-olds are chatty. Especially mine. So don't mind that, and the couple times we had to regroup from her enthusiasm. And please, take a moment to appreciate her facial expressions and hairstyles and chit chatting moments...there are many of them.)

So, was the second Fix even better than the first? Was there a dress in there? Was there a jumpsuit? So many unanswered questions!!! Let's get to it!

First, I opened the most versatile crossbody purse ever (MODA LUXE Ela Fold Over Crossbody). The light pink/tan color seemed to pick up some of the pink hues in the shirt I was wearing, but when I wore it over a darker outfit, it appeared more tan or beige. Everything I tried it with worked surprisingly well – I don't know if it was the color or the style, or a little bit of both, but it definitely helped any outfit feel more put together. I also love a quick hands-free bag (I mean, who has a free hand to carry a purse with? If so, I'd like to know your tricks, please!!). Before this bag came in my Fix, I had been using a purse-backpack-bag as sort of a catch-all, whereas this one was more compact and easy to organize. As with all of the items on Stitch Fix, I debated whether or not to keep it, but when all was said and done, it was a pretty easy "Yes!". I have been so happy with it – it has become my go-to day-to-day purse, and I've been able to keep the things I carry with my more simplified...although sometimes I wonder if I should keep an extra pair of my four-year-old's socks or eight bows for my seven-year-old, like it felt like I'd been doing with my big bag...I'm probably good, though, without toting around everything and the kitchen sink.

Secondly, I pulled out a SUPER cute top with a SUPER fun print with a SUPER flattering cut. This SUPER (okay, I'm done!) blouse (LUSH Warren Split Neck Blouse) reminded me of the theme of my first Fix: It was something I felt like I'd like on someone else, and it ended up being something that I liked for me, but it wasn't something I think I would've ever picked out for myself. If I've learned anything from my Stitch Fix experience, it's that. So Lisa found me something that would've otherwise been off my radar that I, yet again, decided to keep for myself.

Next up was an adorable slightly cropped cami blouse (LUSH Devon Knot Front Cami Blouse). I really liked the idea of this one, but "cropped" doesn't always work out for me. When I tried it on though, I was pleasantly surprised. It was flattering on and could actually go with a lot of other things I own. Plus, Lisa gave me a few ideas of how I could style it, including the white cropped jeans she sent in my first Fix. It ended up being a surprise favorite that I decided to keep.

After that, I grabbed a jumpsuit out of the box and got REALLY excited, because there is not much better than a fun jumpsuit! So, trying to "save the best for last" I tossed the jumpsuit back in the box and grabbed the only other remaining item: and apple-red, amazingly comfortable shirt dress (MIX BY 41 HAWTHORN Alison Knit T-shirt Dress). As soon as I touched the fabric, I was sold. Honestly, if it weren't so cute, I'd probably want to sleep in it! This is the kind of dress I live in, and it was a quick and easy "yes" for this piece!

I guess I spoiled the surprise ending for this Fix already, but the last item was the fun jumpsuit that I immediately had very high hopes for (MIX BY 41 HAWTHORN Elisse Knit Jumpsuit). Besides dresses, I also love to live in jumpsuit or romper, especially in the summer, so I was really excited for this pick of Lisa's. Funny enough, after trying everything on, the red dress was more of a favorite than the jumpsuit, but I did really like the jumpsuit. The print of it was maybe not my thing (I think my daughter called them "Polka Squares" which was appropriate), but the fit and style were working and made me happy. Did I keep it? Yes, I did. Thank you for asking.

Again, Lisa hit it out of the park and I kept all 5 items in my second Fix! Woohoo! I could get used to this. I've loved having these fun, new clothes in my wardrobe. One of the things I really love about Stitch Fix is that element of surprise. Sure, it's fun to shop in a store or online, try things on, and know what you're getting. When I order something online, I know exactly what's coming my way. But the fun of Stitch Fix is in the NOT knowing! The older I've gotten, the fewer surprises there are in life. (Oh, what a sad reality that is!) But with my Stitch Fix items, there are five surprises in each box! That part of this whole Stitch Fix thing is a nice, well, surprise.

**I'd like to end with a quick comment about my posts: There are SO MANY things that make me happy and bring joy to my life, and I realize that is the title I chose for my blog. However, I waited to get my Stitch Fix videos posted and now I'm playing a little catch-up with it all. So I promise, other things than Stitch Fix make me happy. I will get to those eventually. But for now, enjoy these Stitch Fix posts! Thanks for coming along for the ride!**
